The python lay near the popular Tajuddin Hussain Restaurant and was spotted by workers.“What a harrowing experience! I was washing the stairs of the restaurant at about 9am when someone shouted there was a snake near me,” said worker Kamarudin Mohideen yesterday. He said he jumped away for dear life when he saw the snake coiled up only about a metre from him.A motorcyclist riding by stopped and expertly helped to catch and bag the snake.Kamarudin said one of the restaurant workers called the Fire and Rescue Department to collect the snake. Pythons and cobras are known to live in city sewers, thriving on an endless supply of rats, though they rarely come up to street level. It is not known what happened to the snake as Penang Wildlife and National Parks director Loo Kean Seong could not be reached for comment.
